About the Gym
Fighters Gym Oslo holds a unique position in Norwegian Muay Thai. Head instructor Shahid Rasool started the country's first Thai boxing club — Oslo Thai Boxing Club — in 1990, and a year later founded Gamlebyen Thai Boxing Club. The vast majority of current Muay Thai coaches across the Oslo region either trained directly under him or trained under his former students. His credentials are exceptional. He serves as President of the Norwegian Thai Boxing Federation (NTF), as the Norwegian representative for AFSO, and as AFSO Nordic coordinator. He has been training in martial arts since 1978 and holds black belts in Tae Kwon Do, Zen Kung Do, Ji Do Kwan, Kung Fu, and Shin Kyokushin karate, in addition to his Muay Thai background. From 2009-2017 he served as martial arts manager at Partner Gym in Oslo. Most importantly, he has trained multiple World Champions, European Champions, Nordic Champions, and dozens of Norwegian Champions. The gym operates from three locations in east Oslo. The main facility is at Forandringshuset Holmlia (Asperudveien 67), with additional training spaces at Stenbråten School in Mortensrud and at Jerikoveien 20. Classes cover both children's and adult/youth groups, with Shahid Rasool personally leading the instruction. For trainees seeking the most direct lineage to Norwegian Muay Thai tradition — and for serious competitors — this is the institutional choice in Oslo. The pricing is also among the most accessible in the city, with rates from 399 NOK/month for students.
