About the Gym
An honest note about the profile of this school: this is a traditional martial arts institution, not a modern fight-prep gym. Alongside Muay Thai, the school teaches MMA, wrestling, yoga, traditional Japanese Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido, and offers therapeutic services. Reviews consistently describe the place less as a training facility and more as a second home, with students staying for years and often mentioning the personal growth and discipline they took away. The review count is modest (23) compared to Colombo's modern gyms, but the emotional depth of those reviews is unusually high. For anyone seeking authentic Muay Thai instruction with deep cultural and historical context, this is the destination. For anyone wanting active competition preparation against contemporary fighters, the modern competition-focused gyms in Colombo are likely a better fit. The school is located in Ragama, north of central Colombo, which means it sits a bit outside the urban core but remains accessible by car or tuk-tuk.

Head Coach
Grand Master Renil Fernando
Grand Master Renil Fernando introduced Muay Thai Kickboxing to Sri Lanka in 1987 and has trained generations of fighters and instructors since. His federation affiliations span WKA, WUMA, IKBF Germany, IMO, and the World Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido Kai (as Sri Lanka ambassador). Between 2000 and 2005 he successfully organized the first ever Sri Lankan Muay Thai tournament series, most editions held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo. His teaching philosophy extends past technique into discipline, respect, and the long-term character development that students consistently highlight in reviews.
