About the Gym

In a city built on kickboxing, Leth's is the rare gym that teaches traditional Muay Thai in the Thai sense. Robert de Leth began at Mejiro Gym under André Mannaart, then lived and trained for years in Thailand — including at Sityodtong, Pattaya — before opening his own gym in a waterside loft on the NDSM wharf in Amsterdam-Noord. Reviewers are emphatic: several call it the only place in Amsterdam (and possibly the Netherlands) to learn real traditional Muay Thai rather than 'kickboxing/Muay Thai', singling out his patience, technical detail and the authentic Thai atmosphere he and his wife Wanida have created. Ideal if technique and tradition matter more to you than a big competitive fight team.
