About the Gym
King Tiger Muay Thai stands apart in San Diego because of its head coach's background. Kru Huongh Racha Seua is a former professional Muay Thai fighter from Thailand. He trained under Adjarn Pon Racha Seua in Chiang Mai and competed professionally across Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong, and Mexico before retiring and moving to the United States to teach. The instruction is traditional Thai Muay Thai. Classes begin with the basics — stance, footwork, basic punches, kicks, knees, elbows, and the defenses for each — and build from there. The training emphasis is on getting these fundamentals correct before moving to combinations and advanced combat application. Reviewers with experience at multiple San Diego gyms consistently describe King Tiger as the most authentic Thai-lineage option. The gym offers Adult Beginner Fundamentals (Mon/Wed evenings), All Levels Adult Classes (daily, lunch and evening slots), Kids Classes (Tue/Thu), and Saturday Open Gym. Private lessons are available for accelerated progress. One note: at least one negative review mentions class structure being heavy on conditioning. Most reviews are strongly positive and emphasize technical instruction. The gym's 26 reviews suggest a smaller, more focused community than the higher-volume gyms.
